A method for simulating the behavior of an incompressible, viscous fluid in a casting/molding process (102). The method uses classical fluid dynamic equations and control volume-finite element techniques to solve for the momentum and energy of the fluid (102). The method optionally takes into account, during the simulation, fluid flow in the shot sleeve (109), formation of shrinkage porosity, heat transfer between the die and the heat transfer fluid, cooling effect of the spray lubricant on the die, and formation of the mend line.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de simuler le comportement d'un fluide visqueux incompressible dans le cadre d'un processus de coulée/moulage (102). Ledit procédé utilise des équations classiques de la dynamique des fluides et des techniques par éléments finis de régulation des volumes pour résoudre les équations relatives à l'énergie cinétique et à l'énergie du fluide (102). Le procédé prend éventuellement en considération, lors de la simulation, l'écoulement de fluide dans le cylindre d'injection (109), la formation de retassures, le transfert thermique entre la matrice et le fluide caloporteur, l'effet refroidissant du lubrifiant pulvérisé sur la matrice et la formation d'une ligne de réparation.
