ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An adaptive frame element is disclosed for adapting single pane glass window or door frames to receive a double walled insulating thermal glass unit, said frame element comprising an elongated base member having a pair of elongated guides extending perpendicularly from one side thereof, one guide adjacent each edge of the base member, and two elongated rails extending from the opposite side of the base member generally perpendicularly thereto in parallel relationship with each other and spaced inwardly from the edges of the base member, the elongated rails being adapted to be spread apart or squeezed together so as to fit tightly within the glass-receiving slot or groove of a single pane glass window or door frame.
