A temperature history indicator means for affixing to goods. A temperature related phase change in a material within the indicator leads to an indication that a high temperature event has occurred. A preferred format has a water- soluble, lipid-insoluble dye immobilised within a lipid selected to have a melting point at a particular temperature and has all components made from edible materials. Upon melting, the dye dissolves in water present in a secondary phase or the goods themselves giving a visual indication. Another format has a primary reagent within a solid lipid and a secondary reagent held with a secondary phase such that melting of the lipid allows the primary reagent to react with the secondary reagent, providing an indication of a high temperature event. Time-dependent formats are also considered.
L'invention concerne un indicateur de suivi thermique destiné à être fixé sur des marchandises. Un changement de phase lié à la température dans un matériau de l'indicateur donne une indication sur l'occurrence d'une température élevée. En configuration préférée, un colorant hydrosoluble et insoluble dans les lipides est immobilisé dans un lipide dont le point de fusion correspond à une température particulière et dont tous les éléments constitutifs sont à base de matière comestible. A la fusion, le colorant se dissout dans l'eau présente dans une phase secondaire ou les marchandises elles-mêmes donnent une indication visuelle. Selon une autre configuration, un premier réactif dans un lipide solide et un second réactif maintenu dans une phase secondaire font que la fusion du lipide permet au premier réactif de réagir avec le second réactif, donnant ainsi une indication d'occurrence de température élevée. L'invention concerne également des configurations dans lesquelles les indications sont diachroniques.
