Thermal insulation which is a dried, intact composite that includes aerogel particles at an amount in the range of from about 5 to about 95% and either hectorite clay, a product of hectorite clay combined with carboxy methyl cellulose or both, present at an amount in the range of from about 95 to about 5% by weight. The insulation can be prepared by mixing the ingredients in water followed by molding and drying.

Cet isolant peut être préparé en mélangeant les ingrédients dans l'eau, puis en moulant et séchant le tout.
