ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a composite structure adapted to provide thermal insulation to windows. Specifically, it discloses a structure which is attachable to a window frame or windowpane and which comprises a flat transparent or translucent sheet, an elongated member having a U-shaped cross-section having two legs, said member enclosing the edges of the sheet, a flexible magnetic first strip which contacts with a second magnetic strip to position the sheet between 1/4 and 4 inches from the windowpane. The first and second magnetic strips are in contact when the structure is attached to the windowpane or frame. This structure provides an improved window insulation means which provides effective thermal insulation without drastically changing the light transmission function of the windows and also, effectively eliminates air leakage between the inside and outside environments much more efficiently than any of the prior art devices.
