The invention relates to a thermal reactor. A housing (5) is comprised of a direct passage tube for current, volume and materials compatible with the application, and appropriately supplied through its connection terminals (7) with (low voltage) current as a function of its electric resistance in order to produce inside the housing the appropriate reaction temperature conditions, said tube being sealingly mounted and electrically isolated at (13, 19), with reaction products supply means (15) and outlet means (17) for products issued from the reaction. Such a reactor is intended to provide a carbon-laden atmosphere and with a predetermined carbon potential for the thermal treatment of metal parts.

L'invention concerne un réacteur thermique. Une enceinte est constituée par un tube à passage direct de courant, de volume et matériaux compatibles avec l'application, alimenté de façon adéquate par ses bornes de connexion en courant (basse tension) en fonction de sa résistance électrique pour produire en son sein lesdites conditions de température de réaction, ledit tube étant monté de façon étanche et isolée électriquement avec des moyens d'alimentation en produits de réaction et des moyens de sortie des produits issus de la réaction. Un tel réacteur est destiné à fournir une atmosphère chargée en carbone et à potentiel carbone déterminé pour le traitment thermique de pièces métalliques.
