An apparatus for processing feed stock into a thixotropic state. The apparatus includes a barrel with first, second and nozzle sections. The first, second and nozzle sections are connected together and include surfaces that cooperatively define a central passageway through the barrel. The first section is constructed of a first material, the second end section is constructed of a second material and the nozzle is constructed of a third material. The first material exhibits a greater resistance to thermal fatigue and thermal shock than the second material while the nozzle section includes a bushing which inhibits heat transfer to the die, precluding excessive molding pressures and cycle times. The apparatus also includes a preheater for preheating the feed stock before entry into the barrel, a thermal gradient monitoring system, a novel robust nozzle construction, and a two-stage embodiment of the apparatus.
La présente invention concerne un appareil permettant de traiter une charge d'alimentation pour lui conférer un état thixotrope. Cet appareil comprend un cylindre pourvu d'une première partie, d'une deuxième partie et d'une partie buse. Ces parties sont interconnectées et possèdent des surfaces qui forment ensemble un passage central traversant le cylindre. La première partie est fabriquée à partir d'un premier matériau, la deuxième, qui se trouve en position terminale, est fabriquée à partir d'un deuxième matériau, et la buse d'un troisième. Le premier matériau présente une plus grande résistance à la fatigue thermique et aux chocs thermiques que le second, alors que la partie buse comprend une douille empêchant le transfert de chaleur vers la matrice, prévenant ainsi les pressions de moulage et les durées de cycles excessives. L'appareil comprend également un préchauffeur pour préchauffer la charge d'alimentation avant de pénétrer dans le cylindre, un système de surveillance du gradient thermique, une nouvelle buse résistante, et enfin, un mode de réalisation de l'appareil à deux niveaux.
