A textile (310) made at least in part with conductive yarns (12) for the purpose of generating heat from an electrical power source. The textile (310) has conducting yarns (12) or "heaters", with conductivity and spacing tailored to the electrical source to be used and the heat to be generated. The heater yarns have a positive temperature coefficient whereby the resistance of the yarn increases with an increase in temperature and decrease with a decrease in temperature. "Leads", such as conductive yarns (12) can be used to supply electricity to the heater yarns. A coating to the textile can electrically insulate the textile as well as provide protection to the textile during activities such as laundering and use.
L'invention concerne un textile constitué, au moins en partie, de fils conducteurs avec pour but la production de chaleur à partir d'une source d'énergie électrique. Le textile comprend des fils conducteurs, ou "chauffants", dont la conductivité et la répartition dépendent de la source d'énergie électrique utilisée et de la chaleur à produire. Les fils chauffants possèdent un coefficient de température positif, la résistance du fil augmentant lorsque la température augmente et diminuant lorsque la température diminue. Des "conducteurs", tels que des fils conducteurs, peuvent être utilisés afin d'alimenter les fils chauffants en électricité. Un revêtement déposé sur le textile permet son isolation électrique et assure sa protection lors de son utilisation ou lors d'activités telles qu'un blanchissage.
