A thermally expansible material includes an epoxy resin; a plurality of thermoplastic polymers, wherein at least one thermoplastic polymer includes at least one chemical moiety capable of reacting with said epoxy resin; and a heat-activated blowing agent. The thermally expansible material is substantially free of a tackifier, and the material is adhereable to a substrate during expansion. A baffling material following expansion is also provided.

Selon cette invention, un matériau extensible thermiquement comprend une résine époxy, plusieurs polymères thermoplastiques, au moins un polymère thermoplastique comprenant au moins une fraction chimique capable de réagir avec la résine époxy, et un agent d'expansion activé par la chaleur. Ce matériau extensible thermique est sensiblement dépourvu d'agent poisseux, et ce matériau peut adhérer à un substrat durant l'extension. L'invention concerne également un matériau déflecteur obtenu après l'extension.
