ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present disclosure describes a thermally insulating window construction including a plurality of glazed metallic sashes mounted in a metallic window frame. The construction comprises the metallic window frame consisting of frame members each having a composite cross- section providing a gap within which a thermal barrier is mounted, the metallic window frame being provided with a first thermally insulating continuous element interposed in said gap; a second thermally insulating continuous element extending along the whole perimeter of a first of the sashes and able to adhere, when the construction is closed, to the first thermally insulating continuous element so that metallic parts of the first sash are kept on one side of the first thermally insulating continuous element the first sash having a side adjacent to the metallic window frame and an opposite side distal from the metallic window frame; and a third thermally insulating element applied to the opposite side, the third insulating element keeping metallic portions of the opposite side, when the construction is closed, on the one side in which the first sash is place with respect to the first thermally insulating continuous element.
