A thermally protective, flame retardant fabric includes a substrate treated with a combination of a flame retardant agent and an intumescent agent. The substrate includes non-thermoplastic fibers or a blend of non-thermoplastic fibers and thermoplastic fibers having a basis weight ranging from 2.0 to 15.0 ounces per square yard. The fabric has a contact thermal protective performance value of at least 4.5 and a contact thermal protective performance efficiency greater than 1.1. Applications of the fabric include protective garments, articles of furniture, vehicle components, building components, electrical components, decorative components, appliances, and containers.
L'invention concerne un tissu ignifugeant thermoprotecteur comprenant un substrat traité au moyen d'une association d'un agent ignifugeant et d'un agent intumescent. Ledit substrat comprend des fibres non thermoplastiques ou un mélange de fibres non thermoplastiques ainsi que des fibres thermoplastiques présentant une masse surfacique comprise entre 2 et 15 onces par yard carré. L'évaluation de la protection thermique (TPP) des matériaux pour vêtements révèle pour le tissu selon l'invention une valeur <= de contact>= au moins égale à 4,5 et une efficacité <= de contact >= supérieure à 1,1. Parmi les applications dudit tissu figurent des vêtements de protection, des meubles, des composants de véhicule, des composants de construction, des composants électriques, des composants décoratifs, des appareils et des contenants.
