An infrared imaging composition comprises a mixture of at least two novolak resins esterified with from about 0.1 to 50 mole % of a 2-diazo-1-naphthol-4 or 5-sulfonic acid or derivative thereof, wherein the degree of esterification of one novolak differs from the degree of esterification of the other by at least about 3 mole %, further mixed with an infrared radiation absorbing compound. When applied to a proper support and processed, the composition is useful as an offset lithographics printing plate, color proofing film or image resist.

L'invention concerne une composition pour imagerie par infrarouge contenant un mélange d'au moins deux résines novolaques estérifiées par environ 0,1 à 50 % mol. d'acide 2-diazo-1-naphtol-4 ou 5-sulfonique ou de dérivés de ceux-ci, le degré d'estérification d'une novolaque différant du degré d'estérification de l'autre novolaque d'au moins 3 % mol. Les résines sont ensuite mélangées à un composé absorbant le rayonnement infrarouge. Lorsqu'elle est appliquée sur un support convenable puis traitée, la composition selon l'invention est utilisée comme plaque offset d'impression lithographique, film d'essai-couleur ou réserve d'image.
