Thermally stable cytosine deaminase (CDase), and the gene coding therefor, is disclosed as well as methods of isolating, purifying, and recombinantly producing the same. The thermally stable CDase can be isolated from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The yeast isolated enzyme has a molecular weight of approximately 32 kDa, as determined by gel filtration chromatography, and is composed of two subunits, each with a molecular weight of about 17 kDa. Thermally stable yeast CDase so purified shows no significant sequence homology with other known sequenced proteins.

Divulgation concernant la cytosine-désaminase (CDase) thermiquement stable et un gène codant celle-ci, ainsi que des méthodes pour isoler, purifier et produire ladite CDase par des techniques recombinantes. La CDase thermiquement stable peut être isolée à partir de Saccharomyces cerevisiae. L'enzyme isolée dans la levure a une masse molaire d'environ 32 kDa, mesurée par chromatographie de filtration sur gel, et elle est composée de deux sous-unités, chacune d'une masse molaire d'environ 17 kDa. La CDase de levure, thermiquement stable, ainsi purifiée ne présente aucune homologie séquentielle significative avec d'autres protéines séquencées connues.
