A thermionic electric converter includes a cathode output enhancing laser (374) operable to direct a laser beam (376) to strike an emissive surface of a cathode emitter (321), to increase the electron output of the cathode emitter (321). The cathode output enhancing lase (374) is positioned to direct a laser beam (375) through an opening (370) in the anode (306) or target structure, in the direction of the cathode emitter (321). An electron repulsion ring (380) is provided at an edge of the opening (370) in the anode (306), to reduce the number of electrons missing the anode (306) and passing through the opening (370) in the anode (306).

L'invention concerne un convertisseur électrique thermoionique comprenant un laser d'amélioration (374) de sortie de cathode qui dirige un faisceau laser (376) venant frapper une surface émissive d'un émetteur cathodique (321) afin d'augmenter la sortie électronique de l'émetteur cathodique (321). Le laser d'amélioration (374) de sortie de cathode est positionné afin d'orienter un faisceau laser (375) à travers une ouverture (370) d'une anode (306) ou une structure cible en direction de l'émetteur cathodique (321). Un anneau de répulsion (380) entre électrons est prévu au niveau d'un bord de l'ouverture (370) de l'anode (306) afin de réduire le nombre d'électrons manquant ladite anode (306) et de traverser l'ouverture (370) de cette anode (306).
