ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thermit composition useful for repairing ingot mould base plates is described. it comprises a particulate oxidisable metal, particulate iron oxide and a particulate refractory filler consisting wholly or partly of zircon, the refractory filler material being present in a proportion of 35 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of easily oxidisable metal and iron oxide.
