ABSTRACT This invention consists of a method and apparatus to compensate for thermal deformation of a restrained plate by the measurement of the difference of temperatures at a number of locations on the restrained plate to obtain a correction signal proportional to an angle of inclination of the plate. The correction signal is fed to a drive means which activates an alignment mechanism to compensate for thermal deformation of said restrained plate.
