A thermo-magnetic actuator includes a chamber within a housing; a working fluid changing phase upon heating and in the chamber; an electrical heater for heating the working fluid; a piston rod slidable between a retracted position, retracted with respect to the housing, and an extended position extending outward of the housing; a spring biasing the piston rod toward the retracted position; an electromagnet at an end of the housing; and a ferromagnetic target assembly attached to the piston rod, sliding within the housing, and attracted toward the electromagnet, when an electrical current flows through the electromagnet, to maintain the piston rod in the extended position even if electrical power is no longer applied to the heater. Preferably, the position of the piston rod is detected by the actuator and electrical current flow to the electrical heater is terminated when the piston rod is detected at the extended position.
L'invention concerne un actionneur thermomagnétique comprenant une chambre à l'intérieur d'un logement; un fluide de travail changeant de phase lors du chauffage et présent dans la chambre; un élément de chauffage électrique destiné à chauffer le fluide de travail; une tige de piston pouvant coulisser entre une position rétractée, rétractée relativement au logement, et une position étendue s'étendant vers l'extérieur du logement; un ressort sollicitant la tige de piston vers la position rétractée; un électroaimant au niveau d'une extrémité du logement; et un ensemble cible ferromagnétique fixé à la tige de piston, coulissant à l'intérieur du logement, et attiré vers l'électroaimant, lorsqu'un courant électrique circule dans l'électroaimant, afin de maintenir la tige de piston dans la position étendue même si l'énergie électrique n'est plus appliquée sur l'élément de chauffage. De préférence, la position de la tige de piston est détectée par l'actionneur et la circulation de courant électrique vers l'élément de chauffage électrique est interrompue lorsque la tige de piston est détectée au niveau de la position étendue.
