The invention relates to a thermoacoustic tomographic method and a thermoacoustic tomograph (1), for imaging an object (2) with at least one source (3), for the thermal stimulation of the object (2) and at least one detector (5), for recording the acoustic waves (4) from the object (2) caused by the stimulation, comprising an arrangement (7), for displacing the object (2) and/or the at least one detector (5) relative to each other and an arrangement (8), for the reconstruction of the object (2) from the recorded acoustic waves (4), depending on the actual position of the object (2). According to the invention, such a method or arrangement for reconstruction of the object (2) with the least possible algorithmic complexity but with the highest possible resolution may be achieved, whereby the at least one detector (5) has a size in at least one dimension of at least v8.d, where d gives the maximum separation of a point of the object (2) for imaging from the detector (5).

L'invention concerne un procédé de tomographie thermoacoustique et un tomographe thermoacoustique (1) permettant la représentation d'un objet (2), lequel tomographe comporte au moins une source (3) destinée à exciter thermiquement l'objet (2), au moins un détecteur (5) prévu pour enregistrer les ondes acoustiques (4) de l'objet (2) provoquées par l'excitation, un dispositif (7) destiné à déplacer l'objet (2) et/ou ledit au moins un détecteur (5) l'un par rapport à l'autre ainsi qu'un dispositif (8) destiné à reconstruire cet objet (2) à partir des ondes acoustiques enregistrées (4) en fonction de la position effective de l'objet (2). L'objectif de cette invention est d'obtenir un procédé de ce type et un dispositif de ce type, qui permettent de reconstruire l'objet (2) avec une complexité algorithmique la plus faible possible mais avec une résolution la plus élevée possible. A cet effet, ledit au moins un détecteur (5) présente, au moins selon une dimension, une étendue d'au moins v8.d, d représentant la distance maximale entre un point de l'objet à représenter (2) et le détecteur (5).
