ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A receptacle to seat a thermocouple within the reactor vessel of a nuclear reactor, comprising an inverted generally conical surface with a base and a truncated apex and an opening through the receptacle between the base and the apex. The opening having varying cross sections through- out its length sized to positively seat the thermocouple.
