There is a requirement for improved packaging materials with lower oxygen transmission rates, especially for use in relation to oxygen-sensitive products such as fresh red meat. The thermoformable barrier sheet of the present invention comprises a surface layer of a thermoplastic material, an internal layer comprising a polymer having low oxygen transmission, a bonding layer comprising a polymer capable of adhesion to thermoformable plastic when exposed to corona discharge or heat and pressure, and a layer of a foamed thermoplastic material.
