ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thermomagnetic recording method is capable of recording information on a layer of soft magnetic material which has an axis of easy magnetization normal to the surface of the layer and in which magnetic bubble domains are generated by application of a bias magnetic field. Information is recorded by radiating the layer with pulses of a focused beam so as to form a magnetic bubble domain having a magnetization opposite to a direction of the bias magnetic field. Recorded information is stable but can be easily erased.
