ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a communications cable using as light-wave guides glass fibres which are provided with a closely fitting casing. Any unevenness in the surface of the glass fibres can be eliminated by applying a suitable material to them, e.g. a thermoplastic synthetic resin material, in such a manner that it exerts a uniform constant longitudinal compression force on the glass fibre.
