THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMERS PREPARED VIA CATIONIC GRAFTING ABSTRACT Thermoplastic elastomers having improved high service temperatures and increased tensile strength are prepared by grafting cationic polymerizable monomer, such as alpha-methyl styrene, to halogenated backbone such as chlorinated poly- butadiene, said grafting being effected in the presence of inert organic solvent and alkyl aluminum catalyst together with a controlled amount of water to achieve an improved polymerization¦ rate and increased monomer conversion.
