65702-274 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a flame-retardant thermoplastic polyester resin composition consisting essentially of: (a) a thermo- plastic polyester; (b) from 0.001 to 5 parts by weight, based upon 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic polyester, of a phosphoric compound having the formula: Image (I) (where Ar and Ar', which may be the same or different, each represent aryl or substituted aryl groups having 6 to 23 carbon atoms), (c) from 0.001 to 5 parts by weight, based upon 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic polyester, of a hindered phenolic compound, (d) from 2 to 40 parts by weight, based upon 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic polyester, of a bromine based flame retarding agent, and (e) from 1 to 25 parts by weight, based upon 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic polyester, of a flame retarding auxiliary component which is at least one selected from metallic oxides and metallic hydroxides. The resin composition has good heat resistance and long-term property in spite of the presence of the organic aromatic bromine flame retarding agent and the inorganic flame retarding auxiliary component that tend to adversely affect the heat stability of the thermoplastic polyester resin. The resin composition is useful for producing molded articles.
