Products intended for use as hand mouldable materials should meet the objectives of not causing pain to the user when held in the hand, and retaining malleability for a sufficient but not excessive length of time. The invention hand-mouldable compositions comprise selected copolymers of lactones and lactides which manifest a melt temperature T m in the range of from 48 to 58°C and a crystallisation temperature T c in the range of from 16 to 30°C. They are preferably produced from .epsilon.caprolactone and L-lactide, most desirably in a weight ratio of from 94:6 to 91:9, and especially at a reaction temperature in the range of from 150 to 190°C. They are often coloured and can be employed in kits.
Les produits à mouler à la main doivent respecter les critères suivants : ils ne doivent pas faire mal aux mains lors de leur manipulation; ils doivent rester malléables assez longtemps, mais pas pendant une période excessivement longue. Les compositions moulables à la main de l'invention renferment des copolymères sélectionnés de lactones et de lactides, qui possèdent une température Tf de fusion de l'ordre de 48-58 degrés C et une température Tc de cristallisation de 16-30 degrés C. Elles sont préférablement produites à partir d'epsilon-caprolactone et de L-lactide, avec - c'est fortement souhaitable - un rapport pondéral de 94:6 à 91:9, et tout spécialement à une température de réaction de 150-190 degrés C. Ils sont souvent colorés et peuvent être employés dans des trousses.
