ABSTRACT A thermoplastic, spinnable, stretched, hollow fibre is formed by a fibre sheath that incorporates openings that extend in the longitudinal direction of said fibre, which surrounds the imaginary longitudinal axis within the hollow spaces of the fibre to an extent of at least 90° in an essentially concave curve, the cross-section of the fibre being essentially symmetrical with respect to rotation. Such fibres are used as components of absorbent fibre pads.
