ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thermoshield for protecting a wall from the heat that may be developed by a free-standing heating appliance or space heater that may be situated in proximity to the wall. The thermoshield includes a screen of noncombustible, asbestos-free felt having the ability to establish a heat barrier and which preferably is formed from mineral raw materials having many other desirable characteristics. The screen is sandwiched between a pair of rigid panel members, thus enabling it to be properly supported or maintained in a planar up-right disposition. Other structure is included for providing optimum support for the device at a spaced distance from the wall and for facilitating attaching the device to the wall.
