ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE According to the present invention, a thermostat for use in fire detectors is possible which has improved characteristics. A unique electrical contact arrangement is provided which reduces the tendency of the electrical contact points to weld while providing a simple spring biasing to allow the thermostat to return to its initial position as the pressure decreases. This structure is particularly useful with rate of pressure increase sensing devices, although it is also useful for fixed temperature activation. A greater life expectancy or ease in testing is achieved by providing two leaf springs, each having an aligned contact surface for defining an electrical contact. The leaf springs simplify adjustment of the device and reduce welding of the contact surfaces.
