ABSTRACT A valve assembly has a thermo-sensitive bulb mounted to move axially within a frame having a stationary seat. A movable valve element has sliding contact with the seat. Cooperating surfaces on the movable valve element and the casing of the thermo-sensitive bulb serve to prevent flow between the surfaces when the bulb temperature is below a predetermined value. When the bulb tem- perature rises above that value a leakage path is opened between those surfaces, and when the bulb temperature reaches a higher predetermined value the movable valve element is moved by the casing out of contact with the stationary seat to permit a greater rate of flow.
