11 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electric kettle includes a conduit for ducting steam produced by boiling water to a location adjacent a thermostatic switch adapted to cut power to the kettle upon sensing steam temperature. A steam exit is provided from the location to the exterior of the kettle, and a metal cap external to the kettle spans the exit and supports a porous, absorbent filter pad through which the steam exiting from the location must pass.
