ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Photosensitivity of a blue-sensitive emulsion in a multi-color diffusion transfer photographic system is enhanced by sensitizing the emulsion with certain 3,3'-di- substituted 4,5-benzothia-thiacyanine betaines of the general formula Image wherein R is methyl, ethyl, or sulfopropyl, R1 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or sulfoalkylene of between 1 and 4 carbon atoms, only one of R and R1 being a sulfo moiety, and wherein X is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or methyl. These compounds impart adequate blue sensitivity to an emulsion without losses in D-max without sensitivity loss in the presence of emulsion stabilizers.
