A strip of self-adhesive material is applied along the peripheral edge of a member, such as a pane of glass, with the member positioned on a support surface. The tool is slidable on the support surface, guided along the edge of the member. The strip feeds inside one roller which positions the strip relative to the edge, and is pushed down into positive contact by a further roller. The tool can have an extendable and retractable corner location member for moving the tool around a corner.
