To provide a very thick narrow belt of fabric having an excellent breakage strength per unit width exceeding the level of the strength of the fabric which can be conventionally obtained. A thick belt 1, comprising more than four layers of weave structure, in which outer two layers 2, 3 are woven to be a hollow tube by a common weft 41 and the remaining inner layers 5, 6 are woven by another weft 42, characterized in that a thickness of the belt in the widthwise central area is larger than a quarter of the belt width.
