11 THICKENER ASSEMBLY AND THE LIKE FOR VAPOUR PHASE OXYGEN TECHNOLOGY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus and method for treating cellu- losic fiber material pulp. A washed brown stock storage tower is connected to a vapour phase oxygen reactor by a pulp thickening apparatus and other conventional components. In order to eliminate expensive accessory lifting or supporting struc- tures, and in order to provide for rapid and efficient recycle of pulp from between the oxygen reactor and the storage tower, the thickening apparatus is mounted directly on top of the storage tower. Conventional dilution tanks and other assemblies for the recycle lines are also eliminated by this arrangement.
