The present invention relates to the dibenzoazulene compounds represented by formula I as well as to their pharmaceutical preparations for the inhibition of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-.alpha.) and interleukine 1 (IL-1) in mammals at all diseases and conditions where these mediators are excessively secreted. The compounds of the present invention also demonstrate an analgetic action and can be used to relieve pain.

La présente invention concerne des composés à base de dibenzoazulène représentés par la formule générale (I) ainsi que des préparations pharmaceutiques renfermant ces composés, destinés à l'inhibition du facteur de nécrose tumorale alpha (TNF-.alpha.) et de l'interleukine 1 (IL-1). Ces composés sont destinés à être utilisés chez des mammifères souffrant de maladies et d'états impliquant des médiateurs sécrétés en trop grand nombre. Ces composés possèdent également une action analgésique et peuvent être utilisés pour soulager la douleur.
