A thienopyrimidine derivative of formula (I) is effective as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for the prevention or treatment of several hormone dependent diseases, for example, a sex hormone dependent cancer (e.g. prostatic cancer, cancer of uterine cervix, breast cancer, pituitary adenoma), benign prostatic hypertrophy, myeloma of the uterus, endometriosis, precocious puberty, amenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome and acne vulgaris; is effective as a fertility controlling agent in both sexes (e.g. a pregnancy controlling agent and a menstrual cycle controlling agent); can be used as a contraceptive of male or female, as an ovulation-inducing agent of female; can be used as an infertility treating agent by using a rebound effect owing to a stoppage of administration thereof; is useful as modulating estrous cycles in animals in the field of animal husbandry, as an agent for improving the quality of edible meat or promoting the growth of animals; and is useful as an agent of spawning promotion in fish.

Un dérivé à base de thiénopyrimidine, de formule (I) constitue un agent prophylactique et thérapeutique efficace de plusieurs maladies hormonodépendantes, par exemple de cancers dépendant d'une hormone sexuelle (comme ceux de la prostate, du col de l'utérus, du sein ou de l'adénome pituitaire), de l'hypertrophie bénigne de la prostate, du myélome de l'utérus, de l'endométriose, de la puberté précoce, de l'aménorrhée, du syndrome prémenstruel, de la polykystose ovarienne et de l'acné vulgaire. Ce dérivé est également efficace comme agent de maîtrise de la fécondité chez les deux sexes (par exemple comme agent de prévention de la grossesse et de régularisation du cycle menstruel) et il peut utiliser comme contraceptif masculin ou féminin et comme agent d'induction de l'ovulation chez la femme, et comme agent de traitement de la stérilité par utilisation de l'effet de rebond dû à l'interruption de son administration. Ce dérivé sert aussi à moduler les cycles oestraux des animaux d'élevage, et à améliorer la qualité des viandes comestible et favoriser la croissance des animaux, ainsi que comme agent favorisant la fraie des poissons.
