Disclosed is a thin solar cell which, despite its slight thickness and the associated relative ease with which it can be broken, permits effective and reliable connection to foam large area and light-weight solar modules. According to the invention, connecting points are provided in order to provide a terminal for solar cell connectors that permit a series and/or parallel connection of a plurality of solar cells. One connecting point is connected electrically to a front-side contact and another is connected electrically a back-side contact. The connecting points are located on one side of the solar cell at a distance from the semiconductor body of the solar cell. The connecting points can be located either directly on a cover glass, on the side facing its semiconductor body, or on a dielectric intermediate layer between the cover glass and the semiconductor body, such that the areas of the connector body that are exposed for connection face towards the semiconductor body.
