Abstract Compounds are described of the formula IV Image IV wherein R1 represents a hydroxy protecting group and Image represents a 5- or 6-membered heterocycle which may contain in addition to the nitrogen atom one or two further heteroatoms and which may be substituted or anellated with an optionally substituted benzene ring. These compounds are useful as intermediates in the production of cephalosporin antibodies and may be produced by reacting a compound of formula Image VI wherein Image has the above meaning with a compound of formula VII Image VII wherein R? has the above meaning.
