Provided are materials and methods for predicting whether a molar tooth will remain impacted or will erupt based upon anatomical measurements of the position of the teeth in relation to the ascending ramus of the mandible. A transparent template is superimposed on the panoramic tomograms of the patient teeth and mandible. Pre-printed profiles and reference points are aligned on the tomograms with the apexes of the molars. The distance between the profile of the mandible and the pre-positioned reference points allow making a prediction on third molar eruption.

On décrit des appareils et des procédés permettant de prévoir si une dent de sagesse restera enclavée ou fera son éruption, en fonction de mesures anatomiques de la position de cette dent par rapport à la branche montante de la mandibule. Un gabarit transparent est superposé sur les tomogrammes panoramiques des dents et de la mandibule d'un patient. Des profils et points de référence préimprimés sont alignés sur les tomogrammes avec les apex des molaires. La distance entre le profil de la mandibule et les points de référence prépositionnés permet de prévoir si une dent de sagesse fera son éruption.
