Abstract of Disclosure A thixotropic cleaner including an acid component, a surfactant component that has the ability to hydrogen bond, e.g., cationic and nonionic surfactants, and an abrasive component is effective in the removal of inorganic and organic stains on hard surfaces. The cleaner has its viscosity stabilized over extended periods of time by including a very high structure precipitated silica as a suspending agent in the composition. The precipitated silica agent is especially effective when quaternary ammonium salts are included as a surfactant component of the cleaner.
