ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved binder is based upon an aluminum phosphate gelled colloidal silica. The composition of the binder may vary within the following limits (calcined basis):- Colloidal Silica as SiO2 60 -- 85% by weight P2O5 5 -- 35% by weight Al2O3 5 -- 15% by weight Compared to known materials, this binder has improved strength and resis- tance to chemical attack.
