ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved thread-type pipe connector especially suitable for releasably interconnecting sections of marine riser pipe, comprising a sleeve-type coupling element, a differential thread system for threaded engaging the coupling element with two pipe sections in an end-to-end orientation, and a system of keys, fingers or lugs and cooperating slots, grooves or pockets that releasably interlock the two pipe sections in a manner that prevents their relative rotation in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. The disclosure also includes a description of various seal systems that provide a fluid-tight seal between the pipe sections when they are properly connected together.
