ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Outwardly expansible rivet nut for particular use on thin sheets. It is formed of a hollow body of constant outer diameter having a head at one end followed by an expansible part next to the head and a rigid part next to the expansible part. This expansible part, in turn, is formed of a front section next to the head with a constant diameter front bore and a central section following the front section and having a constant diameter central bore of a size smaller than that of the front bore. The rigid part has an inwardly threaded bore. The front section is axially reinforced on its outer surface while a single circumferential groove is provided through the body from its outer surface, being located in the zone that separates the central section and the threaded part.
