ABSTRACT A push-on fastener comprised of a supporting base, a radially split annular flexible web and arcuate internally threaded nut portions. The radially split annular flexible web is thinner in cross-section than either the supporting base or threaded nut portions, and allows the web to distort from an undistorted position where arcuate portions of the web are at a right angle with the threaded portions in response to an axially applied force. The web distortion thereby enables the fastener to be pushed over a threaded male member and to be firmly tightened. The push-on fastener of the present invention avoids problems involved with known push-on fasteners, including difficulty of assembly and sufficient gripping force upon tightening of the fastener.
