An improved thin walled threaded spacer (20) for use in preventing thread galling in adjacent sections of drill pipe (22) in a drill string is formed by mechanically deforming a strip of copper/beryllium alloy containing 2 % beryllium to form a preform having a hollow, truncated conical section (42) and then mechanically deforming the conical section (42) to impart helical grooves (30, 32, 68) therein.

La présente invention concerne un modèle amélioré de raccord fileté (20) à paroi fine destiné à prévenir le faussage du filetage de segments consécutifs de tiges de sonde (20) dans un train de tiges. Ce raccord s'obtient en déformant une bande d'alliage de cuivre et de béryllium contenant 2% de béryllium de façon à aboutir à une avant-forme en coupe creuse tronconique (42) puis en déformant mécaniquement la coupe tronconique (42) de façon à y réaliser des rainures hélicoïdales (30, 32, 68).
