A toroidal casing has a plate extending through its radially outer wall and terminating with flanges on its radially inner edge near a cylindrical core of the casing, Elastomeric O-rings are disposed on either side of the plate so as to be captured between the respective flange and oppositely disposed casing wall. Relative movement between the plate and the casing then results in compressive loads to certain portions of one or both of the O-rings regardless of whether the relative motion is in the axial or radial direction,
