ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A three-dimensional perspective plan-view image format for a traffic situation awareness display for a craft, having the craft represented by a center symbol that indicates by its shape the horizontal heading of the craft, having traffic represented by position symbols with lines indicating altitude differentials having traffic end symbols that indicate by various properties (i.e., shape, color or fill pattern) the directions of altitude changes of the traffic, having rings concentric to and individually equidistant from the center symbol for indicating the ranges of the traffic from the craft, having azimuth lines emanating like spokes out from the center symbol for determining azimuths of the traffic relative to the craft, and having various properties in the symbols to indicate status and other information about the traffic, and wherein the center symbol, position symbols, range rings and azimuth lines, except the altitude differential lines with associated traffic end symbols, are within one reference plane, representing the altitude of the craft, that is tilted in the display towards the viewer for providing a three-dimensional perspective.
