ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE. For simplicity of manufacture, and to provide for a heat and sound insulated composite wall unit, an outer load-bearing wall is formed by an outer grid, trellis or lattice unit (1), embedded in concrete, in which the grid, trellis or lattice elements form reinforcement for the concrete; the outer grid, trellis or lattice unit (1) is held by spacer wires (7) spaced from an inner web of grid, trellis or lattice unit (2), with insulation blocks or batts (8) therebetween. Inner wall liners, which form a decorative inner wall, for example of plywood (10), tongue-and-groove boards, or sheet-rock (16), are secured to and supported on the inner grid, trellis or lattice unit. The spacer elements are, respectively, welded to the outer grid, trellis or lattice unit and the inner grid, trellis or lattice unit . An auxiliary attachment unit in the form of a plate or strips (12) can be located between the insulation material (8) and the inner side of the inner grid, trellis or lattice unit (2) to provide for attachment of the inner wall liner (10, 16) thereto by screws or the like.
