The present invention provides a three-dimensional structures of P. tremuloides isoprene synthase and P. alba isoprene synthase. The invention also provides methods of using the three dimensional structure to design isoprene synthases with improved activity for increased isoprene production in microbial host cells. Biosynthetically produced isoprene of the present invention finds use in the manufacture of rubber and elastomers.
La présente invention concerne des structures tridimensionnelles de l'isoprène synthase de P. tremuloides et de l'isoprène synthase de P. alba. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'utilisation de la structure tridimensionnelle pour concevoir des isoprène synthases ayant une activité améliorée pour une production accrue d'isoprène dans des cellules hôtes bactériennes. L'isoprène produit par voie biosynthétique de la présente invention trouve son application dans la fabrication de caoutchouc et d'élastomères.
