The invention relates to a three-layer metal cord of L+M+N construction, which can be used to reinforce a tyre carcass reinforcement. The inventive cable comprises: an inner layer C1 with L wires having a diameter d¿1?, L varying between 1 and 4; an intermediate layer C2 which surrounds the inner layer, with M wires having a diameter d¿2?, which are helically wound together with a pitch p¿2?, M varying between 3 and 12; and an outer layer C3, which surrounds the intermediate layer C2, with N wires having a diameter d¿3?, which are helically wound together with a pitch p¿3?, N varying between 8 and 20. The cord is characterised in that a sheath, which is made from a crosslinkable or crosslinked rubber composition based on at least one diene elastomer, covers at least the aforementioned intermediate layer C2. The invention also relates to the plastic and/or rubber semifinished products or articles reinforced with one such multilayer cord, such as tyres that are intended for industrial vehicles and, more specifically, heavy vehicle tyres and the carcass bracing plies thereof.

La présente invention concerne un câble métallique à trois couches de construction L+M+N utilisable comme élément de renforcement d'une armature de carcasse de pneumatique, comportant une couche interne C 1 à L fils de diamètre d, avec L allant de 1 à 4, entourée d'une couche intermédiaire C2 à M fils de diamètre d2 enroulés ensemble en hélice selon un pas P2 avec M allant de 3 à 12, ladite couche C2 étant entourée d'une couche externe C3 de N fils de diamètre d3 enroulés ensemble en hélice selon un pas p3 avec N allant de 8 à 20, ledit câble étant caractérisé en ce qu'une gaine constituée d'une composition de caoutchouc réticulable ou réticulée à base d'au moins un élastomère diénique recouvre au moins ladite couche C2. L'invention concerne en outre les articles ou produits semi-finis en matière plastique et/ou en caoutchouc renforcés par un tel câble multicouches, notamment les pneumatiques destinés aux véhicules industriels, plus particulièrement les pneumatiques Poids-lourd et leurs nappes d'armature de carcasse.
